Our Teachers
John Schramm is a retired priest after 31 years as Rector of St Thomas Church, Plymouth, IN, having moved to the diocese in 1982 after Bishop Sheridan facilitated the interview in Plymouth which led to a long and happy residence and ministry. John is actually a Canon of the Catedral del Buen Pastor in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, bestowed by Bishop Frade for mission work in the 90’s (Bishop Gray also named him Canon of the Diocese while he was in the midst of 25 years as Diocesan Secretary). The involvement with Honduras was foundational to the Hispanic Ministry developed at St Thomas in 2003.
Deacon Jim Enelow was ordained in 2019 after graduating from the Iona School for Ministry. For forty-two years before that he was a political science professor first at SUNY-Stony Brook and then the University of Texas at Austin. He is married to the Rev. Cynthia Caruso and has two grown children.
Cynthia Caruso is a retired school teacher and a retired priest. She and her husband Rev. Jim Enelow served at St. Augustine of Canterbury in Benton Harbor until their retirement in 2022.
Lay Preacher John Garmire is licensed to fill in when one of our Priests are unavailable for Mass. He is currently in year 3 of a 4 year program "Education for Ministry". He also is currently in the process to become a postulant to be a Priest.
